For Immediate Release
GREENVILLE, N.C. — Over 400 guests and advocates against human trafficking will come together on October 10 at the Greenville Hilton with the goal to raise $50,000 for “The Anchor House.” The shelter will be the first in the U.S. exclusively for boys that have been sex trafficked and exploited. Restore One, a Greenville non-profit is hosting the event.
“While the victimization of each gender requires an equal grade of attention, the sex trafficking movement has largely overlooked the fact that it happens to boys too,” said Director Anna Smith.
Dr. Allender, a prominent psychologist is the keynote speaker for the event. Dr. Allender specializes in trauma and abuse therapy. He helped found The Seattle School of Theology and Psychology, is an author of several books and is featured in the award-winning documentary, Nefarious, as an expert on human trafficking. Greenville native and water sports champion, Kristi Overton will be the master of ceremonies.
“The Stand for One Gala is a great event to learn about the mission and the vision of Restore One. Join us and come together to stand for one,” said President Chris Smith.
The gala will also include live music and a silent auction. Tickets are on-sale online. Sponsorships are also available and offer varying incentives: ads in the program, logo placement, on-stage speaking opportunities, presentation of auction items and tables for guests, among others.
